Last week Google announced its new Universal Search, “With universal search, we’re attempting to break down the walls that traditionally separated our various search properties and integrate the vast amounts of information available into one simple set of search results”

What this means is that news, video, images, local, and the normal search results will be blended together more on the search results pages. This can mean better visibility of your local search listings in Google-yet another reason to do local search.

I recently found a nice article about getting listed locally Localized Search: A Threat to SEM? . It goes over some of the basics about getting listed locally.  Heather Frahm, the author says and I totally agree with:

“Local businesses with little or no online authority can quickly outrank top brand and search competitors for their geographical area by using local search.” -yet another reason to do local search.
